Establishing Vision

“Then the LORD answered me and said: Write the vision and make it plain on tablets, that he may run who reads it.  For the vision is yet for an appointed time; but at the end it will speak, and it will not lie.  Though it tarries, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.”
Habakkuk 2:2-3 (NKJ)

Don’t you love the beginning of this verse? “Then the LORD answered me…” He is such an incredibly personal and intentional Father!  He is always seeking a way to know you and to be known by you, waiting for any opportunity to interact with you, longing for a chance to speak with you.  He desires so many good things for His children, and for you His beautiful daughter.  His vision and plans for your life are far greater then you can imagine.

While He is omnipotent, omniscient and omnipresent,
His greatest desire is to be with you.

Ever since the beginning of creation, He has desired relationship with you, walking and talking with you in the cool of the day.  He wants you to be a co-labor with Him, to work alongside Him to bring His Kingdom to this earth and into your life.  God is a dreamer. He is a visionary! Just look at the world around you!  One glance at our solar system and you know He is a God without limitation.  I believe He desires the same for you.  May you dream big and dream often.  May you have visions far beyond what your natural eye can see.

Vision is the act or power of anticipating that which will or may come to be.  A vision is an experience in which a person, thing, or event appears vividly or credibly to the mind, although not actually present.  Visions are a gift from God to draw us closer to Him, to give us hope for the future and peace of what is to come.  Visions seldom are seen by the natural eye, but are seen through the lenses of faith, believing that more can be had, and that greater things lie ahead.  “A man without a vision, is a man without a future.  A man without a future will always return to his past,” (P.K. Bernard).

Vision is the bridge between the present and the future.  Vision gives your pain and purpose.  Without vision, people tend to take the path of least resistance, trying to avoid the discomforts of life.  So many people go through life not understanding the purposes of their trials, the reason why they went through the pain.  Vision not only is what you see, but it is also the way you see.  What lens are you looking through?  Do you tend to look through lenses of despair, hopelessness, pain, loss, regret and/or shame?  He never intended for you to see that way and so desires to give you a new perspective.  The reason God gives us visions is quite simple…so we can see like He sees.  He desires to give you visions of hope, of promise and of a bright future!

Digging Deeper:

So dear sister, what are the visions God has put in your heart?  What are the things He is showing you to ensure that your future is filled with hope and purpose?  The Scripture says to write them plain on tablets.  Keep them in front of you and do not let them go.  The Scripture continues for the vision is yet for an appointed time.  God’s timing is always perfect and in that you can take great comfort.  The word tarry means to remain or stay…more simply it means wait.  Hang onto His promises and hold them close, do not let them go.  For in His perfect timing, it will come to pass and it will not be delayed.  When your vision is honestly birthed by God Himself, He will be delighted to direct your each and every step along the way!
