Wilderness Roads – They Can Lead to Wonderful Destinations!

The desert and the parched land will be glad;
the wilderness will rejoice and blossom.
Isaiah 35:1 (NIV)

path

Sometimes the most difficult roads lead to the most beautiful destinations.  Thinking back on a journey of the most scenic drives in Colorado, I remember thinking about how long and rough the road seemed.  Multiple times I grumbled to my husband about how the bumps on the mountainous road were making my back pain worse by the moment.  I (on multiple occasions) made comments that I sure hoped it was worth it!  We arrived at our destination only to find that not only was it completely worth every bump we had endured, but also to discover the descriptions of others were completely inadequate in capturing the beauty of the location.

Our walk with the Lord is a great deal like that.  Sometimes the hardest journey reveals the most amazing destination!  The ride may be painful at times, like the back pain was for me.  Yet if you were to ask me if I regretted the experience, the answer is absolutely not!  The beauty was breathtaking!

So many times, in the midst of the ride, we wonder if it is worth it. Jesus promises it will be worth it.  With Him, we can rest assured nothing will be wasted and in fact, all will be woven into a beautiful tapestry.  I can tell you of countless times I have endured a difficult road of life, feeling discouraged and wondering why it has to be so hard, only to look back when I’m further down the road and realize the pain of the moment is so minute in comparison to the beauty and value of the destination.

Take some time to journal about an experience in your walk with Jesus that was difficult but ended up having beautiful benefits.
